Apple’s latest announcement included the new, iPhone X which will have an “Edge-to-Edge” screen, wireless charging, can be unlocked simply by looking at it with Face ID recognition. The “Ten (X)” is named for the original iPhone’s 10 year anniversary, and will “set the path of tech for the next decade” says CEO Tim Cook during the products unveiling at the company’s California headquarters earlier today (September 12th). The new iPhone X will have no Home button, and the phone’s entire face will be a screen, meaning that users will control everything by tapping the 5.8-inch display screen, which will have a much higher resolution than previous models using 2436 x 1125 pixels.
The iPhone X also includes an A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging and an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization. iPhone X delivers an innovative and secure new way for customers to unlock, authenticate and pay using Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth camera. iPhone X will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, October 27 in more than 55 countries and territories, and in stores beginning Friday, November 3. The iPhone X is priced at $999, which is the most expensive price for a new iPhone model ever. It will ship out to purchasers on Nov. 3rd. (The X is pronounced 10, and not “ex.”)
“For more than a decade, our intention has been to create an iPhone that is all display. The iPhone X is the realization of that vision,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. “With the introduction of iPhone ten years ago, we revolutionized the mobile phone with Multi-Touch. iPhone X marks a new era for iPhone — one in which the device disappears into the experience.”
Other features include:
- “Microscopic sealing” for water and dust resistance
- Wireless charging through Qi-certified charging mats

The Apple iPhone X will come in silver or gray, with storage up to 256 gigabytes, and is expected to ship out on Nov. 3rd for $999 as mentioned above.
